Top 4 Sweatshirt Styles for Men

Today’s men’s casual fashions are geared toward comfort with a sense of style. Many men love to sport the jeans look, with a dressier shirt for special occasions. The modern man likes to have alternatives to his wardrobe — gone are the days of the khaki and button-down uniform.

Currently, men love to don a sweatshirt and go on their way. Luckily, there are many different types of sweatshirts available. Sweatshirts can be found at just about all clothing retailers — from storefront shops to a favored online clothes shop. Here’s a look at four of the favorite sweatshirt styles for men.

Men’s Hoodies

Men’s hoodies are, perhaps, the most popular style today. These are pullover-type sweatshirts, including a hood, as the name implies. Comfortable and versatile, these sweatshirts are popular with celebrities at special events.

Zippered Sweatshirt

The zippered sweatshirt is another style that men love to wear. Like the hoodie, it features a hood, but rather than being a pullover, it has an easy-to-wear zippered front. The fabric can vary from heavyweight fleece and wool to lighter weight fabrics for year-round wear.

Pullover Sweatshirt

The classic pullover sweatshirt without a hood is still extremely popular. Comfortable and versatile, men love this favorite, particularly when it is adorned with their favorite sports team logo or other imprint.

Poncho Sweatshirt

The poncho sweatshirt is a pullover type with a very loose, relaxed fit. This type of sweatshirt works well as a stand alone item or as a jacket.

No matter which style is your favorite, you’ll always feel comfortable in a sweatshirt.

Dressing for Success in the Courtroom

You’ve passed the bar. Those grueling years of law school, the LSAT and undergrad work are behind you—now you’re ready to set out on the law career you’ve worked so many years to achieve.

Wait though—is that what you’re going to wear in court? What? You mean finishing top of your class in law school wasn’t enough; you actually have to dress like a great lawyer, too?

Hey, it’s a tough world out there in business and in the courtroom these days. The fact is that yes, you do have to “dress for success” to make a good impression if you want a great law career. If you don’t know much about men’s fashion and

Courtroom

dress wear, you may have to “fake it till you make it”—or at least do some research, (starting right here at “Dressed to Kill”—www.bonsai.org) till you have a sense of how to pull off a put-together look that’ll impress in the courtroom.

If you think your courtroom attire won’t affect your legal career, think back on some of the legal imagery from films that had an impact. Gregory Peck in “To Kill a Mockingbird” was never seen in court, even in the southern heat, without a suit and tie. Matthew McConaughey has had an impressive side career in films portraying well-dressed (impeccable suit and tie) lawyers.  You get the picture.

Where to start? Read up on our site for tips on dressing well, from head to toe. Go to a men’s shop and find some deals on suits from well-regarded menswear lines. Invest in a good shirt and tie. Comb your hair. Look your best. Chances are, you’ll win the case.

Men’s Fashion Trends

When it comes to business chic, it’s pretty difficult to find new ways of creating the same designs. It’s always the same: suits, ties, vests, and dress shirts. But there’s more to men’s fashion than suits. There’s a wide range of fashion.

Urban Street Fashion

For the urban dwellers, it’s all about urban fashion which includes Rocawear clothing. This style is casual with quality denim jeans, hoodies, and boldly designed tees. For shoes, high tops are back in style as the ’80s influence this style. Army boots are also popular. Shorts in this style are big and long with large pockets in back. The main purpose of this style is comfortable yet chill.

High Fashion for Men

For men who enjoy expensive suits and looking “in fashion,” the style includes geometric shapes. In Armani’s new collection, just revealed at fashion week in Milan, men’s fashion included jackets with square and diamond designs. The fabrics were all lightweight, ready for spring and summer. The Alexander McQueen collection included suits with skinny pants and tailored jackets. These also sported geometric designs with squares and stripes.

A huge trend found overall was the color blue, including shades of blue. Many designers used this color in their new collections. A longer jacket is also emerging as a trend and can be found collections by designers that include Dolce & Gabbana, John Varvatos, and Corneliani.Â

These two styles are vastly different and you aren’t likely to see someone wearing Rocawear one day and Dolce & Gabbana the next. It’s interesting to see how divergent fashion can be.

Popular Fashion Era Costumes

Getting ready for your next costume party, dance or at-home party?

The options for purchasing your favorite go-go boots or tie dyed T-shirt are only minutes away.

Online sources such as costumeexpress.com offer the wearer an upscale party fashion. Other sources for purchase may be your nearest garage sale or consignment shop.

But before you shop, consider the styles typically worn during the era:

1950s clothing for men includes dress shirts, knit sweaters and square toed dress shoes. Women enjoyed wiggle dresses, pencil dresses and sunglasses with flowers.

Clothing for the 1960s includes dress shirts and pullovers for men in colors like pumpkin orange and blue. Try a shag wig to compliment the look. For women, a hippie costume and go-go boots will make you a hit.

Clothing for the 1970s offers men and women endless disco attire. Wear a flower power hippie dress or tux-out in a purple velvet suit.

1980s clothing keeps men in the game with warm up jackets, baseball shirts and Lee Denim Jeans, while women prefer the crop jacket or disco denim jeans.

1990s clothing hits pretty close to home but there is still some variety when it comes to men’s and women’s clothing. Check out  what Nike and Adidas had to offer men and the over-sized sweaters and narrow jeans brought to women.

Getting the best fashion era costume for your event depends largely on you and less on knowing where to purchase them. Get help from online sources who carry everything you need. Or try a thrift store; someone may have just cleaned out their closet.

Socks for All Occassions

When it comes to buying socks, many people rely on the old standby: Hanes white socks that come four or more per pack. If your sock drawer has very few deviations, then your feet don’t even know what they’re missing. You need to learn about some of the best socks that will make you more comfortable and fashionable.

Sport Socks for the Summer

During summer you want a sport sock that keeps you dry and cool all day, whether you are taking a casual stroll or playing a pick up game of basketball. Adidas makes a ClimaCool low-cut sock that will make your feet happier than they’ve ever been during summer. These specially designed socks are made of material that dries extremely fast and lets your feet breathe. They also have addition padding built in at the toe, heel, and ball so that you won’t get any painful blisters during intense games.

Comfortable, Fashion Socks

A few retail stores really stand out in the fashionable socks department. J Crew has a selection of comfortable socks with bold and traditional designs. If you haven’t shopped for socks at J Crew before, then you have no idea how many options you have to consider. Banana Republic also has a long selection of socks that look as good as they feel.

Warm Socks for Winter

Winter places special demands on feet, so you want thick socks that will protect you from cold and water. Look for fleece or wool options that are thick enough to keep you warm and toasty even when the snow is falling.

Finding a Hat That Fits Your Style

You don’t see as many men wearing hats these days as you would have a century ago. That doesn’t mean, however, that hats have completely fallen out of fashion. If you want to sport a classic or a hip look, then you should consider incorporating various types of hats into your wardrobe. Knowing which types of hats fit your look will help you choose one that looks right on you.

Fedoras

The fedora is a classic gentleman’s hat that you can use to add style to contemporary fashions. You are just as likely to see them on Justin Timberlake as your grandfather. You can find them in a variety of materials, including straw, wool felt, and fur felt. Some of the classier fedoras even have a beautiful feather stuck into the band.

Newsboy Caps

Here’s another fashion that has made its way back into contemporary style. The newsboy cap has gained popularity over the past few years. Wear it on a golf course or out at a night club. They are made in a variety of patterns and colors, so look for a design that fits your style preference.

Berets

Berets never really came into fashion in the United States. Maybe a few hipsters and beatniks wore them in the early 1900s, but men usually get laughed at when they wear berets now. If you can pull it off, then you are a man of remarkable confidence. Hey, some of the most successful men in history wore berets (including Picasso, John Wayne, and Claude Monet), so you’re in good company.

Look Your Best at Work Without Spending a Lot

Young men don’t often have enough money to buy a lot of suits. That can make dressing difficult when they get their first real jobs. Wearing the same suit all the time would make you look tacky, but you can’t afford to spend much money. What are you supposed to do?

Inexpensive Suits for Everyday Activities

You might find that you can afford to purchase several suits from an outlet store. These inexpensive suits might not be top of the line, but they look nice and they give you some variety to choose from when dressing for the office. Purchase three or four so that you won’t stick out as “that guy with the suit.”

Buy More Accessories

You can also alter your wardrobe by purchasing some inexpensive accessories. Wearing a different shirt can make yesterdays suit look like it’s never been worn. Buy a selection of shirts, ties, belts, and shoes to add variety to your look.

Buy One Really Nice Suit

After you have saved enough money, buy one really nice suit that you can wear to special occasions. Look for designer suits that are customized for your build. Generally, you will want to choose a dark color, such as black or navy, that will look appropriate in a variety of social contexts. Now you have a suit that you can wear to funerals and important meetings that might push your career to new levels of success.

When you make smart choices, you can vary your outfits without spending a lot of money. What strategies have you used to look great even when you don’t have a lot of money to spend?

What’s Your Favorite Designer Brand?

Finding your personal sense of style and fashion is a lot more than just seeing what you like. There are a ton of little choices that make up your personal style. Sometimes understanding what your view on fashion is can be difficult without any direction. That’s why you need to determine just who your favorite designer is.

It might seem arbitrary, but finding out the answer to the question will help you formulate just what your style is, and it can streamline it, as well. Plenty of people have a designer they can identify with. It’s the one that makes clothes that speak to them. It’s the one that makes the kind of style that is just right for them. You might find a designer that creates clothes that you adore for every occasion.

Picking your favorite designer isn’t always about taking every piece of clothing they have and putting it in your own closet. Let’s face it; you might find that they are pricing some of those clothes way out of your own financial picture. But that doesn’t mean you can’t replicate the style. Try searching on Canada 411 for clothes inspired by that designer, but for a greatly reduced cost.

Your style means a lot to you, and why wouldn’t it? It says something and who you are and how you choose to express yourself. If you can find a designer that speaks to you, then you need to follow that designer and his or her style. It will help you shape how you present yourself.

Just because you want to keep up with the latest fashion trends doesn’t mean that you want to spend a lot of money. Luckily, there are several ways that you can save money while enjoying some of the hippest designs in men’s fashion.

Shop Online Stores for Sales

Shopping online can help you find great deals on brand name clothing. This is especially true when you concentrate on websites that have sale sections. When you are willing to buy a little out of season, you could save 50 percent or more. Instead of dropping $400 on a jacket from Banana Republic, you could find one for $150. That’s a huge savings that makes the best clothing affordable for just about everyone.

Most major clothing retailers will have sales and sale sections on their websites. Visit your favorite stores regularly to get the best deals.

Use Auction Sites

You can also save money by purchasing clothes from auction sites like eBay. Stores often sell their overstock on auction sites at discounted prices. When you know how to spot a great deal, you could get high fashion for next to nothing at all.

Use Coupon Sites

You should also consider the advantages of using coupon sites. Coupon websites often have deals for 10 or 20 percent off an order. They might also have coupons that help you save money on shipping and handling charges. Every little bit helps when you’re trying to purchase fashionable clothes at reasonable prices.

What Tie Knot Should You Use?

Some men care so much about their ties that they wouldn’t dare leave the house without one. Other men only wear ties when they absolutely must. For those of you that don’t know one type of knot from another, it is frustrating to pick out a tie that matches an outfit well. When you know some of the most popular knots, though, you can look like you know what you’re doing, even when you don’t.

The Full Windsor

The full Windsor goes by a few names. Some people call it the “double Windsor” and others simply know the knot as “the Windsor.” No matter what you call it, you should reserve the Windsor knot for special occasions. When you use the Windsor, you get a wide triangular knot that makes a statement. To wear it properly, you will probably need a tie made of thin material, such as silk, and a shirt with a wide collar.

The Half-Windsor

Similar to the full Windsor, the half-Windsor knot takes it down a step without losing the power that you get from a traditional knot. This produces a smaller knot that the full Windsor, so you can use it with a wider variety of ties and shirts. Still, it’s suited for special occasions and important meetings.

The Small Knot

If you have a tie made of thicker material or a shirt with a small collar, then you will want to use the small knot. It doesn’t demand as much attention as the other two knots, but the small knot allows you to incorporate more ties into your fashion.

What type of knot do you prefer?
